While community is displayed clearly as God’s design in the Scriptures, there is no doubt that life together with others is messy. It’s the work of God to weave us together in unity.

As beautiful as the structure and color of an individual thread is, it is much more beautiful when woven with other threads into a tapestry. In the same way, we settle for much less when we try and go at it alone within the Christian life.

The Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation. Our American mindset values rugged individualism, but the Scriptures reveal to us something more beautiful. Have you ever considered a beautiful tapestry? All the varied colored yarn that came together to create that design.

In my previous post, we looked at “Three Proofs of Life” that show we are alive spiritually.

  1. We are children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
  2. We have the indwelling Spirit, working and transforming our lives.
  3. The fruit of the Spirit is evident in our thoughts, words, and behavior.

I enjoy action films—where things blow up, kidnappings happen, and heroic rescues win the day! That’s where I learned the phrase “proof of life.” So how does this relate to our current series on living a powerful, full life in Christ?
